Description

STEAM IC is having another small-scale event! It is scheduled for Saturday, November 9th, 2024, from 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Silver Bell Ln, Etobicoke, ON M9W 5L7. During the event, participants will receive an exclusive tour of Humber College, have the opportunity to network with industry professionals, and explore the different fields of engineering. There will be multiple engineering stations set-up where participants can partake through a rotation-based system.

Career Panel

There will be a group of industry professionals from branches of engineering that will share their experiences. They will provide insight for post-secondary and their respective careers. The hosts are listed below.

Rotation Activities

Most of this event will consist of rotary activites. This covers the branches of mechanical, civil, chemical, computer, and aerospace engineering. There is also a case-study based activity to test your knowledge on engineering!

  • Here is a breakdown of all the activites:
    • Mechanical engineering: the rude goldberg machine competition explores the concept of physics and simple machines
    • Chemical engineering: creating a water filter which makes an understanding of how simple chemicals can be used for every-day actions
    • Civil engineering: Bridge building applies the concepts of infrastructure and construction
    • Aerospace engineering: paper Airplanes explore how aerodynamics are used in engineering and how they can be applied on a smaller scall
    • Biomedical engineering: you are provided with a case study that challenges application through a prompt focused on improving accessibility
    • Computer engineering: you will have the opportunity to use arduinos and learn the basics of computer science and the application
